0. Effective Date and Jurisdiction
This Privacy Policy is effective as of June 2, 2026, and supersedes all previous versions. Great Awareness operates in Kenya and complies with the Kenya Data Protection Act (KDPA). Users in other jurisdictions should review applicable local laws. By using Great Awareness, you consent to the collection, processing, and storage of your personal data in accordance with this policy.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly, including account registration details, profile information, wellness preferences, and content you create. Conversation history with Aristonos AI is stored and analyzed to improve your personalized experience. Technical information is automatically collected, such as device type, operating system, app version, IP address, and usage analytics. We may collect location data if you grant permission, and information from third-party services if you connect your accounts to Great Awareness.
2. How We Use Your Information
Your information is used to operate, maintain, and improve the Great Awareness platform. We use it to personalize your experience, deliver relevant wellness content and recommendations, send notifications and communications, authenticate your account, prevent fraud and enforce our Terms of Service, and conduct analytics to understand user behavior and platform performance. We also use anonymized data for research and product development.
3. Data Sharing and Third-Party Services
We do not sell your personal data to advertisers or third parties for marketing purposes. We may share your data with trusted service providers who assist in operating our platform. Current subprocessors include: Cloudflare (hosting, content delivery, and security infrastructure), M-Pesa/Safaricom (payment processing for subscription services), and other providers for analytics, authentication, notifications, and customer support. These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only for the services they provide. We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government request. We may also share information to protect the rights, privacy, safety, and property of Great Awareness, our users, and the public, or to enforce our Terms of Service.
4. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information, including encryption in transit and at rest, secure authentication, regular security audits, and access controls. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is entirely secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach, we will notify affected users via email and in-app notification as quickly as possible and in accordance with applicable law.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your personal information only as long as necessary to provide services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Conversation history with Aristonos is retained for 12 months to improve AI personalization, or until you request deletion. When you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or regulatory compliance. You can request deletion of your data, including Aristonos conversation history, by contacting our support team through the app or at privacy@greatawareness.app.
6. Your Privacy Rights and Consent
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your data; object to processing; restrict processing; and receive your data in a portable format. You may withdraw consent to data processing at any time, which will not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us through the in-app support feature or privacy@greatawareness.app. We will respond to your request within 30 days.
Before accessing Aristonos AI features, you must affirmatively consent to conversation storage and analysis. You can withdraw this consent at any time through your account settings, which will stop new conversations from being stored but will not delete existing history.
7. Cookies and Tracking
Great Awareness uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to enhance your experience, remember your preferences, and understand how you use our platform. You can control cookie preferences through your browser settings. Note that disabling cookies may affect certain features of the app.
8. Children's Privacy
Great Awareness is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete such information and terminate the child's account. Parents or guardians who believe their child has provided information to Great Awareness should contact us immediately at privacy@greatawareness.app.
9. International Data Transfers
Great Awareness is operated from Kenya. Your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in countries other than your country of residence for hosting, analytics, and service delivery. These countries may have data protection laws that differ from Kenya. By using Great Awareness, you consent to the transfer of your information internationally as necessary to provide the service.
10. Wellness Data Privacy
Great Awareness processes wellness data only, not medical or health information subject to medical regulations. Wellness data is non-clinical information about lifestyle, mental well-being, meditation, fitness, and similar matters. Great Awareness is not a medical device, does not provide medical diagnosis or treatment, and should not be used as a substitute for professional medical or mental health care. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please contact local emergency services or a qualified healthcare provider.
11. Aristonos AI: Personal Assistant and Behavioral Analysis
Great Awareness includes Aristonos AI, an intelligent personal assistant equipped with specialized knowledge in psychology, behavioral science, and wellness coaching. Aristonos AI processes conversational data, mood patterns, behavioral insights, and wellness goals to provide personalized recommendations and support.
Data Collected by Aristonos AI: Your conversations with Aristonos, mood entries, behavior patterns, wellness goals, preferences, emotional states, and interaction history. This data is encrypted and stored securely on our servers for 12 months to enable personalized assistance across sessions.
How Aristonos Processes Your Data: Aristonos AI analyzes your inputs to identify patterns, provide evidence-based wellness recommendations, track behavioral progress, and offer psychological insights grounded in established behavior change and cognitive frameworks. Aristonos learns from your interactions to improve recommendations but does not share insights with third parties without your explicit consent.
User Control Over Aristonos: You must affirmatively consent to Aristonos features before use. You can disable Aristonos at any time through settings. You may request deletion of your Aristonos conversation history separately from your main account data. Aristonos does not share behavioral or psychological insights with third parties without explicit consent, except as required by law or to protect imminent harm.
12. Data Breach Notification
In the event of a confirmed data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you via email and in-app notification without unreasonable delay and in accordance with the Kenya Data Protection Act and applicable laws. The notification will include details of the breach, the types of data affected, measures we are taking to address it, and steps you can take to protect yourself. You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner if you believe your rights have been violated.
13. Policy Updates and Contact
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. We will notify you of material changes by updating the 'Last Updated' date and, if required, by sending you a notification. Your continued use of Great Awareness after updates means you accept the revised Privacy Policy.
